Letter of Appreciation from First Lady

This book is better read to by an adult to children,  rather than children reading on their own.  It may be a bit over the head of young children, but the themes are for the very young minds (1st, 2cd, 3td grade levels) , yet it is a bit long for little ones to read. Colors are extremely beautiful and the themes are very easily understood if the adult knows how to deliver them in the reading .

It is ideally designed toward teaching children themes of kindness and courtesy, and can be read during rest time, or at rug seating time,  yet the play on rhyme and rhythm in language is good for learning such literary devices as well.

The land of the Murples is a place we all need to visit sometime.  It borders are peace,  courtesy,  and acceptance of all kinds of colors of people, animals and other creatures.  It describes the elements of peaceful acceptance in many forms, and teaches children the basic themes in words as entities  (or creatures)  that depict their meaning,  such as   “Okay”,  “Please” and  “Thank You.”

If you have children that enjoy story time and like being read to,  this is a warm and fantastic ride into the imagination,  and charming in general.  This would be a wonderful book to be kept in the classroom,  or to be given as a gift,  and because of its lively colors and beautiful artwork,  it is nice to have in a child’s library.  In children in  SDC  or children with emotional issues,  as it has a calming affect during the reading and would probably give children a comforting feeling with the reader.

This book written by Michael John McCann, is a delightful fantasy which children will enjoy,  and so will their parents!  McCann’s rhyming & rambling tale of PurpleUmpkin has ” Dr Suess” qualities,  delivering a positive message for kids of all ages – be respectful, brush your teeth, and have fun!  I only wish more of this sentiment could be found in other literary endeavors these days.
